Lesson 7 – Health and Safety
Including a health and safety section can really strengthen the business plan. If you can show the reader that you are aware of the regulations and are abiding by them, it can really boost the faith they have in your business.
Be warned, if you’re going to state that you know all the health and safety regulations in your business plan, be prepared for some questions. If the reader or grant provider asks you a question and you don’t know, you will look very foolish and it my harm your chances of getting a grant.
You need to be aware of the regulations if the reader wishes to know more than what’s in the business plan. Anyway, if you are going into business you should know the health and safety regulations and any other insurance you might need. If you don’t there is loads of information on the internet. Try searching for the governing body of your chosen profession.
Once you know the regulations, amend the below paragraph in bold and copy it into your free business plan template
I am aware of all aspects of health and safety in my chosen profession, such as XXXXX XXXXXXX I will adhere to these at all times. In addition I will also adhere to safety aspects while working in public and private locations. I will also keep my self updated with changes from XXXXX publication and the XXXX website
Really anyone starting a business should be fully aware of all the regulations and insurance implications. Not abiding by these regulations could mean prosecution. Looking on the positive side being members of associations and being compliant with regulations can reassure customers and be used as a marketing tool.
Many businesses once joining an association will put the association logos on their website, business cards and marketing materials.
