Lesson 2 – The Business

Lesson 2

The business

This part of the business plan tutorial comes immediately after the front page of your business plan (name of business, contact details and your name etc..). It’s basically just a summery of your business so the reader can get a feel for what you are trying to achieve.

In this section of the business plan I would briefly describe my services and who my customers will be e.g.

“My business will provide xxxxx and xxxx to the general public, commercial and public sector.”

The general public – For a gardening business these customers will be people living on housing estates or people who have large gardens which regular attention.

Commercial sector – these are businesses the gardener could have contracts with such as tidying up care homes or beer gardens for pubs

Public sector – This type of work will come from councils and for a gardener it could be anything from looking after road side flower beds to cemeteries.

The next piece of information I would include is some examples of the services the business offers. For the gardener in this example I would put

“The primary services we offer are;-“
• Tree Surgery
• Lawn mowing
• Pathways
• Turfing
• Planting
• Landscaping
The third piece of information I would put in is a little bit about the business e.g.

“Your business name” is to be newly established and plans to trade primarily on a regional basis, although consideration will be given to larger projects further a field if the opportunity arises.

This will give the reader an idea of the size of your business and the type of work you will undertake.

So if I was setting up a gardening business I would put something like this,

Ammend the following paragraph in bold to suit your business, then copy it into lesson 2 the business plan template
