Lesson 4 – Time Management
This part of the business plan is very short. It’s just to give the person reading the business plan an idea of the hours you are going to be working. It is also to let them know that you understand the time and effort it will take for your business to succeed.
For example if you said that you are only prepared to work 10am – 4pm it does not look good to the person reading the business plan and is about to give you money to start up your business. A lot of people who are about to start up in business often think this, they will work less hours for more money. If you are one of these people I would seriously reconsider going into business as you are in for a shock!
The reality is that in the beginning you will be working longer than 9-5 and on less money, so it’s far better to put in the business plan something to reflect this. I would put in the business plan about how you are prepared to work longer hours if and when you are required to do so. This will give the reader or funder much more confidence in your willingness to succeed.
After deciding on the times you are willing to work, ammend the below paragraph in bold and copy it into your free business plan template
Lesson 4
Time Management
I plan to carry out the bulk of my work between the hours of 08.00-18.00 hours, Monday to Sunday; however, to give the business the best possible chance of success, I will work when required to the needs of the customer.
Some of you will be thinking “no way am I working that many hours!”. Ask any successful entrepreneur how many business hours they have worked in the past and I think you will find for their business to be a success they have worked far more.
